Outreach and Support

This area of works aims to encourage and support women who attend the Centre and to target women who are isolated at home and need that little bit of extra support and encouragement to start using the Centre.  A worker is available to visit such women in their own homes and build relationships prior to the women progressing to using the Centre.

All age groups are catered for.   There is a Young Mothers Programme where young women are encouraged to enrol on this programme which is specifically tailored to meet their needs and then encouraged to progress to the general education and training programme where they can increase their skills and qualifications.

Another age group that has been a successful example of this programme is the Over 50’s Group.  This group of ladies started in the Centre by enrolling on the crafts course and have progressed to taking up other courses gaining qualifications; becoming members of the Management Committee of the Centre; taking up tutor training which has equipped them to bring their learning back into not only their own Centre but to people such as residents of care homes and other community organisations by tutoring groups on courses such as Arts and Crafts, Actively Aging Well etc

All women who use the Centre are given any support they need as they avail of services from a friendly chat and someone to listen to additional support measures such as essential basic skills training.
